MARIETTA, OHIO — Governor Mike DeWine has announced the appointment of a new member to Washington State College of Ohio’s (WSCO) Board of Trustees.

Christy Chavez, Managing Member of Reno Oil & Gas LLC and longtime community advocate, was installed last night during the June meeting as the newest member of the Board of Trustees.

“Christy Chavez is a tremendous addition to our Board of Trustees. Her professional background and strong community roots bring valuable insight to our work. She understands both the challenges and opportunities in our region, and I look forward to collaborating with her to strengthen connections and expand possibilities for our students,” said WSCO President Dr. Sarah Parker.

The WSCO Board of Trustees is made up of local residents from Washington and Morgan counties who are committed to guiding the college’s mission and growth. Current board members include Tyler Wilcox, Chair; Jodey L. Altier, Vice Chair; Bernie Anderson; Randall T. Barengo; Cinda Erickson; David E. Vandenberg; Susan L. Vessels; and Joseph Zacharias.

Together, the Trustees ensure WSCO remains a high-quality academic institution dedicated to preparing future professionals and leaders. Their decisions reflect the college’s mission to meet the region’s educational and workforce needs by offering accessible, affordable, and dynamic degree and certificate programs in a supportive environment that fosters student success.
