MARIETTA, OHIO — Jacob Booth, a student in Washington State College of Ohio’s (WSCO) Process Technician program, is balancing the responsibilities of work, family, and higher education while creating a stronger foundation for the life he envisions. Set to graduate in spring 2027, Booth is pursuing his degree while working more than 50 hours a week, raising a young child with his fiancée, and caring for his home.

For Booth, the flexibility of WSCO’s 100% online Process Technician program has made earning a degree achievable. As a Shipping and Receiving Lead at Teikoku USA Inc., his work schedule is demanding. The ability to complete coursework online allows him to study early in the morning, late in the evening, or whenever time permits—without sacrificing his responsibilities at work or at home.

“The online format fits my lifestyle,” Booth shared. “Between work, school, being a dad, and taking care of our home, flexibility is important. This program allows me to keep moving forward without putting everything else on hold.”

Because the program is fully online, Booth does not have to commute to campus, giving him valuable time back with his family. He has established a routine that allows him to stay on track academically while remaining present at home. The program’s structure provides the adaptability he needs to succeed in every area of his life.

One of his favorite aspects of the Process Technician program is the constant opportunity to expand his knowledge. “I genuinely enjoy learning,” he said. “I like that I’m always gaining something new from the courses I’m taking.”

Looking ahead, Booth has ambitious goals. In addition to advancing further in logistics, he dreams of one day owning his own business. He is open to taking business courses in the future to help turn that goal into a reality.

For those considering entering the Process Technician program—or going to college in general—Booth offers simple but powerful advice: “Don’t be afraid and don’t think you’re not smart enough to do it.”

Booth’s story is an example of what determination and strong time management can accomplish. Despite a demanding career and the responsibilities of family life, he has found a way to pursue his education without losing sight of what matters most. His ability to stay focused, adapt, and remain committed to his goals demonstrates the resilience and drive that define his journey. For Booth, earning his degree isn’t just about balancing responsibilities, it’s about proving to himself and his family that with dedication and perseverance, anything is possible.
