MARIETTA, OHIO — Four Upward Bound and Washington State College of Ohio (WSCO) students, Jessie Yu, Kacy Hahn, Joselyn Erb, and Adalynn Allen, recently attended the Youth to Youth Leadership Conference, sponsored by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.

The event, held at the Kalahari Resort in Sandusky, Ohio, brought together over 180 peers from across the state to engage in leadership development, community-building, and youth empowerment.

As part of the conference, the students developed a community project aimed at spreading kindness in both their schools and the greater Washington County community. The students presented their project ideas to their peers, receiving valuable feedback and support from other participants.

An exciting opportunity awaits these students, as they are eligible to apply for grant funding through Youth to Youth to implement their kindness initiative here in Washington County. This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts to promote positive change, foster community engagement, and inspire youth leadership within the region.

“We are incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication these students have shown throughout this process,” says Amy Taylor, Director of Upward Bound at WSCO. “Their commitment to making a difference in their community is truly inspiring, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact they will have.”

The Upward Bound program at WSCO offers students the chance to develop leadership skills, engage in community service, and prepare for postsecondary education. For more information on the Upward Bound program, please visit wsco.edu/upward-bound.
