MARIETTA, OHIO — The Washington State College of Ohio (WSCO) Foundation invites the community to an unforgettable evening of music and impact at a special benefit concert featuring the John Walsh Trio (JW3), taking place Friday, April 10, 2026, at The Adelphia Music Hall. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the performance begins at 8 p.m.

This meaningful event supports the WSCO Foundation Annual Scholarship Fund, which provides critical financial assistance to students working toward their educational and career goals.

For WSCO student Maybe Weber, scholarships have made a meaningful difference. A 23-year-old pursuing an Associate of Arts degree with plans to transfer into a bachelor’s program in anthropology, Weber understands the long-term impact of financial support.

“I know that all that loan money will have to be paid back once I’m done with classes,” Weber said. “I want to minimize that amount as much as possible.”

Weber was awarded the Foundation Annual Scholarship, a $1,000 award that helped cover tuition and textbooks, which are expenses that can quickly add up for students balancing academics and everyday life.

While Weber says they would have still pursued college without the scholarships, the added financial burden would have created more stress in the future. “Knowing that I have saved myself some money in the future allows me to find more joy in my classes,” Weber shared.

Stories like Weber’s highlight the importance of the WSCO Foundation Annual Scholarship Fund. Many students face significant financial challenges while pursuing higher education. According to recent Trellis data:

  • 61% of WSCO students worry about having enough money to pay for school
  • 58% are working while attending classes
  • 54% are supporting dependent children

During the 2025–2026 academic year, 297 students applied for scholarships through the WSCO Foundation. However, due to limited funding, only 42% of applicants received awards. This year, WSCO has received 346 scholarship applications, demonstrating a growing need. Events like the John Walsh Trio Benefit Concert play an important role in helping close this gap.

Attendees can expect a night filled with timeless classics, rich harmonies, and an inviting acoustic sound, all while making a meaningful difference in the lives of local students. Every ticket sold directly supports the WSCO Foundation Annual Scholarship Fund, helping remove financial barriers and expand access to education across the Mid-Ohio Valley.
