MARIETTA— Washington State College of Ohio (WSCO) has established an articulation agreement with Capital University that will create a new degree advancement opportunity for students in its Business Management and Accounting programs.

The agreement provides Washington State students with a clear pathway toward earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting or in business management from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. They will complete two years at WSCO where they will earn an associate degree, after which they will transfer to Capital University and complete their bachelor’s degree in two years. Students will also have the added benefit of earning a master’s degree from Capital by committing to one additional year of education.

“WSCO has a long history of graduates who desire to continue to grow their management and leadership skills. Every business and organization need solid leaders and financial professionals, especially here in the Mid-Ohio Valley. Our many family-owned businesses, new business startups, and established companies will benefit from the graduates of this program,” said Business Management Instructor Dr. Micah Covert. “This 2+2 partnership with Capital University aids in the transition for those who desire an advanced degree because it guarantees our graduates can earn a bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting in just two years with the option of an MBA in an additional year,” he added.

According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, overall employment in business and financial occupations is projected to grow faster than the average for all occupations from 2022 to 2032. It is estimated that on average, nearly 1 million openings are projected annually in these occupations due to employment growth and the need to replace workers who leave the occupations permanently.

“This partnership is a testament to the commitment of both Washington State College of Ohio and Capital University to provide students with a quality education,” said Ryan Rieder, Capital University’s Dean of the School of Management & Leadership. “Capital University believes that the future of higher education is about collaboration and by working together, we can create efficient and affordable pathways for students from the Mid-Ohio Valley to explore opportunities in Columbus, Ohio.”
