Johnathan D. Graziani
Class of 1999
Outstanding Professional Achievement
The 2007 winner of the Distinguished Alumni Award for Outstanding Professional Achievement graduated summa cum laude in 1999 with an associate of science degree in biological sciences. He gave the student address at graduation. He also completed a BA degree at Fairmont College, and another AS degree at WVU-P.
Following his academic study, our alumnus eventually became a licensed registered sanitarian for the State of West Virginia, and was our first graduate to do so in that state. In order to accomplish this goal, he also had to take a 300-hour Sanitarian Training course provided by the West Virginia Board of Registration for Sanitarians. Once this was accomplished, he submitted an Application for Registration as a Sanitarian in Training. Upon passing the State exam, he worked for two years at the Wayne County Health Department in this capacity before becoming a Registered Sanitarian. He maintains his certification by obtaining 15-hours of continuing education each year.
Mr. Graziani is involved in many community service projects that he has been involved with in Jackson County to protect the health of the community. His favorite events are Hand Washing Clinics which he holds to teach proper hand-washing techniques, and operating a Ham radio to aid community emergency workers in the event of a crisis. Today and every day, our alumnus continues his mantra of protecting the environment and preserving it not only for humans, but for other living species as well.
