MARIETTA, OHIO (August 24, 2018)–Washington State College of Ohio (WSCO) is at the head of the class among community colleges in Ohio.
A recent study conducted by WalletHub ranked WSCO as the No. 1 community college in the state of Ohio. The study compared more than 700 community colleges across the country using 17 key indicators of cost and quality. The rankings were decided based equally on three factors including a cost and financing category which considered tuition price and grants/scholarship assistance. The other two main factors were educational outcomes which included retention and graduation rates as well as career outcomes which considered loan default rates and salaries of grads, according to WalletHub.
“This is a tremendous distinction for our institution. We are pleased to be able to provide this community with a high-quality education that can transform lives and advance our entire region,” acknowledged WSCO President Dr. Vicky Wood. She went on to credit the success of the College to the commitment of the faculty and staff who “are wholly vested in helping our students find success by getting to know their individual career and academic goals and then providing pathways to help them achieve those goals.”
The College, established in 1971, has an annual enrollment of over 2,100 students and offers more than 45 programs and certificates. Earlier this year it received accolades when its Associate Degree Nursing program was ranked No. 7 among the 89 registered nursing programs in Ohio. In addition, WSCO’s Practical Nursing (PN) program was ranked No. 5 among the 64 PN programs in the state.
