McPeek family establishes scholarship in memory of their mother.

MARIETTA, OHIO (January 29, 2019)— The Patricia Ann McPeek Scholarship was established by Kitty McPeek-Stalnaker, Pat McPeek, and Gale Righter in memory of their late mother. Available through the Washington State College of Ohio (WSCO) Foundation, the annual scholarship supports single mothers in pursuit of an education.

The scholarship is just one part of the legacy Patricia left through her hard work, personal, and professional successes. Patricia, who passed away in 2008, enrolled in college as an adult. She balanced her studies on top of her responsibilities as a single parent. Her education enabled her to become a realtor and later a broker, all in the name of providing for her young children.

Through her work, Patricia helped people find their dream homes while being active in the Masonic Organizations, including The Order of Eastern Star and White Shrine. She believed in paying it forward and participated in many opportunities to help others in need. In this same spirit, her children established her memorial scholarship to support other single mothers and thereby empower women to take the next steps toward their dreams.

“The creation of the Patricia Ann McPeek Scholarship at WSCO is a powerful example of what it means to build a legacy,” said Dr. Vicky Wood, WSCO president. “In addition to helping our students pursue a college education this scholarship will also create a brighter future for them and their families.”

Current and future students can apply for both institutional and Foundation scholarships using one application. The deadline for the 2019-2020 scholarship application is March 15, 2019. Visit for more information.
