Practical nursing is an integral part of nursing practice. Graduates of the Practical Nursing program at Washington State College of Ohio are prepared, under the guidance of a registered nurse or licensed physician, to function as responsible members of the health care team. Practical Nurses collaborate with Registered Nurses and physicians in the planning and delivery of direct nursing care in acute and long-term care facilities as well as other community settings. The Certificate of Practical Nursing Education provides classroom and clinical experiences to prepare graduates to become exemplary members of the healthcare team. Graduates of the Practical Nursing Program are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Exam for Practical Nursing (NCLEX-PN).
