Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTA) Occupational therapy assistants use therapeutic interventions to facilitate recovery of clients and patients, so that they can return to functional and independent living. They use their skills to help them recover, improve and maintain their abilities in the areas of daily living skills, home management, school and work. Occupational therapy assistants spend much of their time on their feet, setting up equipment and providing occupational therapy to their clients.

Accreditation Status:

Washington State College of Ohio is seeking accreditation from the Accreditation Council on Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE®) for the occupational therapy assistant program. Candidacy Status indicates that the program meets the requirements for Candidacy Status and the plans and resource allocations for the proposed program appear to demonstrate the ability to comply with the ACOTE Accreditation Standards. The proposed program may admit its first class of students according to an approved timeline. The program must have a pre-accreditation review, complete an initial on-site evaluation, and be granted Accreditation Status before its graduates will be eligible to sit for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification exam.

The program does not yet have certification exam pass rates; however, program results from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) can be found online at https://www.nbcot.org/Educators-Folder/SchoolPerformance

A felony conviction may affect a graduate's ability to sit for the NBCOT certification examination or attain state licensure as an occupational therapy assistant.

Graduation Requirements: Completion of all technical and general education classes with a grade of "C" or higher in the OTA Associate Degree curriculum and successful completion of all three fieldwork courses: OTAT 2210, OTAT 2800 and OTAT 2900. The program currently has no graduate outcomes as we anticipate the first OTA graduates in August of 2026.
